ABOUT NIGEL CAWTHORNE
While Contemporary Authors and Wikipedia say that Nigel Cawthorne was born in Chicago, Illinois, his mother insists that she has never been to the United States. He came into the world more prosaically in a nursing home in Wolverhampton, then in the county of Staffordshire. Brought up in rural Surrey, his first job was milking cows on a farm. He went on to study physics as University College, London, where he graduated with an entirely unmerited BSc (hons).
To support himself at college, he worked as a printer's messenger. This got him into journalism, first in the UK, then in the US. He has written for over 150 newspapers and magazines on both sides of the water. In the 1980s he began writing books and has now written over 140. They cover the whole spectrum from investigative political work, through war, true crime, art, science, history, literature, fashion, sex and humour. They are published in some 26 languages and also appear under the pen names Al Cimino and Alexander Macdonald. He also claims to be the only person you will ever meet who has been in the dock of the Old Bailey and has testified to the US Senate.
