Adam Bromley’s career spans over a decade as a comedy producer for the BBC, working across radio and TV, followed by the co-founding of the UK’s largest audiobook producer.  

As a producer, Adam won two Sony awards for radio comedy. His credits include the hit sitcoms ‘Think the Unthinkable’ and ‘Hut 33’, as well as R4’s flagship topical comedy, ‘The Now Show’. Adam co-wrote the radio sketch series ‘Concrete Cow’ which gained excellent reviews.

In TV, he produced a popular children’s sketch show ‘King Stupid’, starring Marcus Brigstocke and various pilots, including a BBC3 sitcom and C4 scripted comedy starring Jack Whitehall. Together with Ashley Blaker, producer of the legendary ‘Little Britain’, Adam devised an impressions format ‘V-eye-P’ which BBC3 produced as a non-TX pilot. He also wrote a comedy film script, titled ‘Sex, Drugs and Robots’ which was optioned by an independent film company. 

Fearing that he was in real danger of having some free time, Adam began work on his first novel. A lover of espionage thrillers, he wanted to create a roller-coaster story which blended comedy with page-turning action. ‘Unknown Unknowns’ is the result. 

He says, ‘Most spy novels are inherently absurd, with fantastical plot twists and devices. But they take themselves incredibly seriously and rarely if ever include jokes. I wondered if I could write a tale that blends espionage with comedy and however outlandish my story might be, real life is even weirder. After all America waged war on Iraq over weapons of mass destruction that never existed. Donald Rumsfeld’s cryptic quote about known knowns and unknown unknowns was my inspiration, I hope readers enjoy the results.’
